Taking care of the land
📝 Communications, some research and planning next steps

- Set up Mattermost channel and invited everyone
- Researched gorse management and wrote up a plan
Beyond those things, there are a few things that are on my mind: building a composting toilet, working out a plan for a camp kitchen, providing shade and mowing a campsite.
Composting toilet
I'm modelling the design off the outdoor toilet at Rhea's place. The structure provides two stalls and is 1.5 pallets high. I've written up a loose plan on notion. I'll aim to acquire all the materials and get them to site - building it should be straight-forward from there.
Camp kitchen
For an expected gathering of about 15 people, we'll need some sort of shared kitchen. A minimum might be:
- Bench space
- Cooker
- Washing up area
- Drinking and washing up water (120L going off 4L/person/day, but that's a padded estimate including showering. 60L would probably cover us)
I've put the word out on the group chat to see if we can organise them easily within the group.
Chill space
- Shade
- Seating (cushions, couches, camp chairs)
I'll ask Rhea if we can borrow the coleman shade tent (4.2 x 4.2m). There's also some good shady trees near the camp spot. I'll put the word out for cushions, and bring a couple of rugs along.
A second marquee would be useful, perhaps to provide a separate space for the kitchen to give us more usable shade space.
Mowing the campsite
We'd like to mow an area for people to camp. We could do this with the hand-mower, but a ride-on would be much quicker. I've asked Jesse if we could use his (depending on transportability etc).
